ICA 2013 Congress Schedule and Speaker Program


Hong Kong April 26, 2013- The ICA is pleased to announce the schedule of ICA 2013 congress and the presentation topics of some of our honorable speakers. Please kindly find the attachments for your kind consideration. We are looking forward to seeing you very soon!

May 12 and 13 are the ICA congress registration days. The 24- Hour Shuttle buses service will be provided from the airport to the congress venue. The congress Opening Gala will kick off in the evening on May 13!

On May 14 and 15, the congress will feature over 30 Chinese and international speakers who will be sharing their expertise in fields ranging from gemstone producing and mining to custom, laboratories, gems and jewelry designs and marketing practice. A special tour visit to the International Gemstone Culture and Creative Industrial Park (IGCCIP) will be arranged in the afternoon of May 14.

On May 16, morning, all congress delegates are invited to the grand Changsha Show Openin g and the China (Changsha) Mineral and Gem Show.

On May 16, In the afternoon, the eligible congress delegates will hold the ICA Members General Assembly where the new President and Board of Directors will be duly introduced and formally installed.


Special Visit to the International Gemstone Culture and Creative Industrial Park (IGCCIP)

On the afternoon of May 14 (around 3:30), presentation of the IGCCIP project. The project is hosted by ICA and the Changsha Government. The projection is to collect data and build up the database to further leverage with the Chinese government, with the effort to launch the proper special importation Channel and Mechanism for colored gemstones in China. It is expected to be built within 5 years and turn into an all-in-one colored gemstone production and marketing base incorporating R&D, appraisal, gems and jewelry design, processing, training and trading in China. The project is fully supported by Changsha National Economic & Development Zone.

 

Sri Lanka Minister Leads Official Delegation to Attend ICA 2013 Congress

Three Weeks till the ICA 2013 Congress Opens

Hong Kong, April 24, 2013 –   Sri Lankan Minster of Environment and Renewable Energy Hon. Susil Premajayantha will lead their official delegation to attend the ICA 2013 congress to be held in Changsha, China from May 12 to 16.  Mr. Premajayantha will deliver a keynote speech at the congress section on May 15.

The delegation team consists of Hon. Susil Premajayantha, Minster of Environment and Renewable Energy; Mr. Amitha Gamage, chairman of Sri Lanka National Gem & Jewellery Authority; Mr. Prasad Galhena, former chairman of Sri Lanka National Gem & Jewellery Authority; Mr. Yousuf Maraikkar, acting chairman and chief executive of Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Mr. A.P. Jayraj, chairman of Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Association.

Mr. Premajayantha assumed duties as the Minister of Environment in January, 2013. He started his career as an attorney-at-law back in 1985. Mr. Premajayantha is former Minister of Power and Energy in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is keen on developing into a trade center with value-added products in their gem and jewelry sector. It is becoming a strong competitor on the world scene in terms of gemstone and jewelry exportation.  Sri Lanka have confirmed their interest as one of the producing countries to closely work with ICA in different projects.

 

Tanzanian Government Joins ICA 2013 congress

Hong Kong, April 15, 2013 – Officials from Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy & Minerals have announced a government delegation headed by Deputy Minister Hon. Stephen Masele will attend the ICA congress in Changsha. The official group also includes Mr. Ally Samaje, Commissioner for Minerals; Mr. Benjamine Mchwampaka, Assistant Commissioner for Minerals and Hon. Philip Marmo, Tanzanian Ambassador to China.

Tanzania is endowed with different species of colored gems and has become one of the leading gemstone nations in Africa. At the time of ICA 2013 Congress, the Tanzanite delegation will also visit the International Gemstone Culture and Creative Industrial Park as part of the initiative of Changsha National Economic & Technical Development Zone in partnership with ICA.

NGTC and GAC join government to host ICA Congress, 2013

Hong Kong, April 3, 2013 – ICA 2013 Congress is receiving another major industry supports! The National Gem and Jewelry Testing Centre (NGTC) and the Gem and Jewelry Association of China (GAC) will host ICA congress, along with Department of Commerce of Hunan Province and Changsha Municipal People’s Government. The news was confirmed in a meeting with all parties held in Beijing, China on March 29.

NGTC and GAC are the two most important official bodies of gem and jewelry trade in China.  Their full support of ICA congress at Changsha continues long history of cooperation in promoting colored gemstone in China.

GAC is bringing its extensive media platforms such as “GAC News” and “China Gems” magazine to the congress.  NGTC will invite famous scholars and specialist in the industry as congress speakers to discuss the current colored gemstone market potential and trends in China. In addition, they will also invite major Chinese gemological testing centers and laboratories as well as prominent business communities to attend the congress and the show.
