We are pleased to announce the 25th International Symposium on “Amber. Science and Art,” which takes place on 22-23 March 2018 in Gdańsk, Poland, during the 25th AMBERIF International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones (21-24 March 2018).
The International Symposium is organised to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the AMBERIF International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones and the 20th Anniversary of the Museum of Amber Inclusions at the University of Gdańsk.
This conference will be a unique opportunity to meet specialists and colleagues from other countries in beautiful Gdańsk—the World Capital of Amber—and discuss the most current topics on Baltic amber and other fascinating fossil resins of the world. Gdańsk has an age-old history of amber extraction and trade in amber products.
Scientific investigations of amber have also been performed in Gdańsk for hundreds of years. There is no better place to meet and talk about amber!
The main theme of the seminar is Baltic amber, but all interdisciplinary topics connected with other fossil are kindly invited.

2. Stylistics and processing technology of amber products in 3rd-1st millennium BC: local and interregional perspective
3. Highlights of amber properties investigations and current aspects of amber mining
4. Myths, collections and conservation of amber

ABSTRACTS A request for abstracts will be announced in the Second Circular, which will also have instructions for electronic submission. Delegates will only be permitted to give one lecture. Number of posters will also be limited to space available.
PROCEEDINGS VOLUME The proceedings of the symposium will be published as a special volume. Deadline for final paper submission is June 30, 2018. Priority will be given to those papers which are based on lectures presented during the symposium.

FIELD-TRIP Day after the proceedings (24th March), a trip to the Malbork (medieval castle with great amber collection of historical objects) and Mikoszewo (national wildlife preservation park; place of amber collecting) will take place. The trip is free of charge for participants of the conference.
