The President's Message - December 2024

News,
Damien Cody
ICA President

It is with a great deal of wonderful anticipation that ICA made the recent announcement that our next Congress will be held from May 19 -22, 2025 in Brasilia Brazil.

For those who have never attended an ICA Congress, allow me to share what makes this event so special. My first Congress was held in Sydney, Australia, in 2001, and it was an unforgettable experience. The event was impeccably organized, featuring an impressive lineup of speakers, dynamic activities, world-class accommodations, outstanding food, entertainment, and a trade show showcasing local gems. The post-congress mine tours—only made possible through ICA's careful planning and collaboration with local experts—were a true highlight.

Brasilia will be even better I am sure.

Since then, I have only missed one Congress, and not by choice!

Attending an ICA Congress has always been a priority for me. It’s when ICA shines as the preeminent authority in the global gemstone industry. These gatherings offer a unique opportunity to reconnect with the ICA family, meet industry colleagues, and build lasting friendships. Each Congress has given me countless cherished memories and lifelong connections.

Every ICA Congress features a range of critical topics and exceptional speakers, but it’s more than just a conference. It’s an experience that immerses you in the culture, history, music, and cuisine of the host country. From the vibrant sights to the rich flavors and sounds, the host location truly comes alive for all attendees.

These events are your chance to expand your horizons, learn from experts, join with industry colleagues and meet with the leaders of industry from around the globe in a relaxed environment. Don’t miss the partners’ program and the post-congress tours, which are always a highlight and offer unforgettable insights into the host region.

I hope to see you in Brasília, where I have no doubt our Brazilian hosts will treat us to yet another incredible and inspiring ICA Congress.
